TOUCHING THE EAGLES

PART THREE

NINE DAYS AT MT SHASTA

Day Twenty-Two - August 22, 1986 - Day Four at Mt Shasta

Sandora
After breakfast Michael and I went to the Golden Bough Bookstore where I met my next contact. Michael met Sandora a few days earlier and introduced us.

Sandora lived in Los Angeles and worked with many healing therapies, including color therapy and crystals. During her stay at Mt Shasta she was living in a tent on the mountain. She was here primarily to make better contact with her guides.

Let 27 Be the Completion
I was in the bookstore at 1:33 P.M. and I was guided to go outside to write in my journal. I sat in the garden area in front of the bookstore and closed my eyes to meditate. The guides spoke to me in meditation.

"Let twenty-seven be the completion. We would like you to divide the book into three sections. Each section will be nine days long. You will be given the title of the book from your own sub-conscious after completion.

You Have to Know the Spiritual Realms of the Mountain
As I was completing my meditation I was told to talk to the next person who came along. My contact came out of the bookstore carrying a poster of the mountain. I had just purchased the same poster and we talked about the mountain for some time.

Ben, a very young looking age thirty-nine, was originally form Sante Fe, New Mexico. He was now working at Berekley as a computor programmer. He had just arrived at Mt Shasta and planned to climb the mountain the next day. During this visit he also planned to climb Mt Lassen, a nearby mountain. Following are some of Ben's comments about climbing mountains.

"I have to gather my energy and resources to meet the challenge of climbing the mountain to the top. You have to have your resources together and you have to know yourself. You have to spiritually know yourself and you have to know the spiritual realms of the mountain. Climbing a mountain to the top is a metaphor to the spiritual quest. Getting to the top is like getting to the top of the Christ Consciousness, or enlightenment, if you want to call it that.

Donna
Ben left to go up the mountain as I sat outside the bookstore. The guides spoke to me again.

"Eat seafood today."

I went into the bookstore and talked with Donna who was temporarily relieving Dorothy. I found Donna to be very helpful. She assisted me in purchasing several books and recommended an excellent seafood restaurant nearby. Although it was mid afternoon and I usually ate much later, the guides wanted me to go there immediately. Thinking the reason was to make another contact, I left for the restaurant.Laurie
After the young waitress brought me the menu I was told by the guides to talk to her.

Laurie lives with her family in the nearby town of McCloud. She would be returning to college in a few days where she is in her third year of a communications and public relations course.

"I like anything outdoors", she told me. "Horseback riding, bowling, flying. I want to fly. I want to be a pilot."

David from Carmel
After leaving the restaurant I left to go back up the mountain. Upon arriving at the upper parking lot I was guided to talk to a man who was fixing his backpack in preparation to climb the mountain.

David, bearded, age thirty-nine, was formerly from Boston and now lives in Carmel, California.

"I am a healer. I work with polarity therapy." he told me.

As I spoke to David I was struck by his ability to intently listen to what I was saying. At one point he stopped packing his backpack, gave me eye contact, and I felt that he was completely with me until he was satisfied that I was satisfied that the conversation was complete. I felt a oneness with David during the short time we were together.

Bill From Boston
I left David and went directly to the headwaters where I sat in meditation. After awhile a young fellow came along and introduced himself as Bill from Boston.

Bill was wearing a rainbow shirt of many colors and his jeans were covered with patches of many colors which were sewn on. We had been hitchhiking across the country working on farms to help support himself.

The Light
During my meditation by the stream I was guided to go up higher on the mountain to complete my meditation. I passed by Gabriel's cave, however, he was not at home, so I continued up higher on the mountain. I located a large, open rock where I sat down to meditate. After meditating for some time I heard the following words in my head.

"Open your eyes and behold the beauty."

Opening my eyes I looked around. Words could not describe what I saw and experienced during that moment. I was high up on the mountain looking down into a beautiful valley. There was a lake far below me in the valley, mountain ridges to my left and right, and fluffy white clouds dotting the beautiful blue sky. A warm, light breeze was blowing and the temperature was just right. I experienced a very peaceful, very powerful, very humble feeling of being at one with the mountain, at one with nature and at one with the universe. I was experiencing and seeing things in a different light.

Visitors to Gabriel's Cave
I was carrying my small New Testament with me and I was told by the guides to open it at random and read the first verse I saw. I opened it and read from John 3, Verse 21.

"But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they are done in God."

The guides continued to speak to me. "Go now to visit Gabriel. He will have some visitors. You are to talk to them."

I left my meditation spot and went back down the mountain to Gabriel's cave. He was there with two young fellows, Chad and Guy, who were both about eighteen years old. We talked for some time and ate almonds together. Gabriel held and blessed my small bible.

"Yashie", he said, "You are also blessed."

Yashie was his nickname for the name Yashah. Mary Mary, Shanondougah, Micah and Chasity
Later in the evening Gabriel took me to meet more people who were staying on the mountain. He introduced me to Mary Mary and her three children, Shanondougah, age eleven, Micah, age six, and Chasity, age four. This family of four from Eureka had been staying on the mountain for three months. The childen appeared to be very healthy and happy with their unusual summer holiday.

The Fireside Gathering
Life on the mountain would not be complete without a fireside gathering. With more than thirty people I gathered at a fire to enjoy each others energy. Gabriel blew his horn to gather the people and we sat around the fire to sing and tell stories.

I found myself wrestling in the dirt with two six year old boys, Micah and his friend Greg. Needless to say, I lost the wrestling match, however, I never enjoyed myself more.

At 10:33 P.M. I watched the moon rise over the mountain. It took three minutes for the moon to rise and come into full view over the mountain.

While at the fireside I saw four U.F.O's. After the fireside gathering I went back up to the large rock where I had been earlier. This spot was to later become my favourite place on Mt Shasta. Crawling into my sleeping bag I bedded down for the night.
