NINE DAYS AT MT SHASTA

Meet Alvin and Theodore
Upon awakening in the morning the guides spoke to me.
"A contact will be made at 9:33. Stay close to your car."
At 9:30 I sat on the pavement near my car waiting for someone to come along. At 9:33 there was no one in sight; however a small chipmunk came right up to my feet. He sniffed the moccasins I was wearing and stood on his hind legs as if begging for food. I had some crushed granule in the car. Very carefully I got up to get it. The chipmunk waited as if he anticipated my move. I spread some of the granule on the ground near my feet and the chipmunk gathered a few crumbs in his paws and put them into his mouth. Seemingly satisfied he scampered away.
Shortly, the chipmunk returned with another little friend. I placed some crumbs of the granule in my hand and to my surprise and delight both chipmunks began to eat out of my hand. They would take a little and eat it, then stand on their hind legs with front paws to their mouth while chewing on the food. Their jaws expanded as they ate.
The chipmunks were with me for thirty-three minutes.
Terry and Fran Passing Through Town
Later in the morning I went back to the Golden Bough Bookstore where I met Terry and Fran and their children. They had five children with them and were travelling in two cars. They were on their way to Ashland, Oregon, an hours drive to the north, to attend a Skakespearian theatre. They told me that the whole valley around Ashland was a cultural center for the west. It was an important spiritual center for the Indians, famous for the Wintun Ibdians.
The two families live at Lodi, California. Terry is a certified massage therapist and specializes in Swedish massage, foot reflexology and touch for health and energy balancing. He also uses crystals for healing therapy.
Fran introduced me to two of the children; Bekki, age thirteen and Diana, age severteen.
"Bekki was at the Exposition in Vancouver(Canada) recently and she was in the Soviet Union last year She is our traveller." Fran told me. "Diana is our actress and dancer."
After the family left I purchased the book, 'The Wintun Indians of California and Their Neighbors' I found it to be a very informative and interesting book to read.
Nomad
Leaving the bookstore I was guided to talk to a young man who looked to be about thirty who was sitting outside the bookstore. Nomad was going to Santa Cruz and was looking for a ride there. He had stayed on the mountain for two days and felt guided to move on. I sensed him as a free spirit who travelled whenever he had an urge to. Although we talked for only ten minutes I felt a closeness with him as though we were communicating deeply on another level.
Diane From British Columbia
Later I found myself at the Mountain Song Natural Foods Store where I met Diane. The guides told me I would find her interesting.
Although she was born in the United States she had lived in Canada for sixteen years until coming to Mt Shasta one year ago and had been working at the store for one month. She had lived at Kaslo, British Columbia and knows a close friend of mine, Andy who is a well known local healer in my home town of Salmon Arm, B.C.
"I came to Mt Shasta to go to the Eurythmy School to study Rudolph Steiner's work," she told me. "It involves a movement that puts sound and language to movements."
The Gathering of the Eagles
Leaving the Mountain Song Ntaural Foods Store I drove over to the city park to have a quiet place to wrire in my journal. Turning off the motor I noticed the time of day was exactly 3:33 P.M. Sitting comfortably in the car I closed my eyes and heard the guides speak to me.
"Great eagles are gathering in mountain areas. Vibrations are changing. Vibrations of the earth are changing. Vibrations of people are changing. You have touched the vibrations of great eagles who shall be gathered in the last days."
Then I recalled that my friend Menno had referred to 'eagles' as a code word for people who would be gathered in safety areas in future times.
Sitting in my car meditating I recalled a conversation I had in Calgary with my son Jim and his friend Donna. Donna had read the original draft of the first nine days of this book 'Nine Days in May' and had commented that the majority of my contacts were young people. This had not occurred to me until she mentioned it. From that conversdation I realized that most of these young people were university students studying courses which involved various forms of spiritual and metaphysical healing techniques. Such techniques would be practiced openly and freely in futuer days. Then the guides informed me that the eagles were indeed being trained for the future.
Tim
I left the city park and went back up the mountain where I went hiking for several hours. Then I went to the upper parking lot where I was guided to park beside a yellow volkswagon, on which two bicyles were mounted on the back.
"You are to talk to the owner of the car," I was told.
At 8:33 P.M. I was talking to Tim, age twenty-nine who was a student of biology and the health sciences. He was on a holiday travelling around and doing carpetry work in his spare time. He was here to climb the mountain. He had never climbed Mt Shasta but had climbed Mount Whitney in Southern California.
Sleep in Gabriel's Cave Tonight
Later I went over to 'sacred headwaters' where I meditated for some time. The guides spoke to me again.
"You are to sleep in Gabriel's cave tonight."
Following instructions I went back to my car to get my sleeping bag and trotted off for my rendezvous with Garriel. Sharing granule bars and crushed granule I visited with Gabriel for several hours before we prepared to bed down for the night. Gabriel slept inside the cave wih his dog Jordan while I sleep in my sleeping bag at the entrance to the cave where I could easily observe the stars in the clear sky overhead. I experienced a very peaceful feeling as I drifted off to sleep.
