ACROSS SIX STATES IN SIX DAYS

In mid June, 1987 I received instructions from the guides to take a trip to Colorado. "Just take a long weekend in July and go there". I was told.
I planned this journey south to begin on June 30th.
Pick-up at 87566
That was the first thing I heard upon awakening in the morning. These numbers did not seem to have any significance to me so I asked the guides for assistance as to the meaning of the numbers.
"Check the kilometers on your vehicle." I was told.
When I checked the kilometers driven on my 1986 Mercury Capri I found the number to be at 87520. Curiously, I asked the guides for a meaning to the number 87566.
I was told, "You are to pick up someone at that point. We will say no more."
He Came Right Down Out of the Sky
Leaving my house at 2:33 PM I began my journey south from my home town of Salmon Arm eager to make the first contact.
I carefully watched as the kilometers turned. At 3:03 PM the kilometers turned to 87566 and I pulled off and parked by the side of the road. I began to feel a little disappointed because there was no one in sight and I was no where near an off road or a parking spot.
"Wait here." the guides informed me.
I waited for six minutes and was almost ready to leave. Then I noticed a shadow moving along the ground which I thought might be a large bird or a plane passing by. Looking up I was surprised to see a fellow hang-gliding over the highway. I assumed he had come down from one of the nearby mountains. Curiously, I watched as he landed in a nearby field, scooped his equipment and placed it into the bushes and came over towards me.
"Please, will you give me a lift to a phone." he asked.
As soon as he began to speak I knew from his accent that he was from Australia.
"Are you from Australia," I asked.
Replying that he was from Australia he went on to say that he wanted to phone his party so that they could pick him up.
Tall and well tanned I guessed his age at about thirty. I drove him one mile to the nearest phone.
Stop at 3:33 PM
Pulling away form the phone booth with a feeling of accomplishment from having made the first contact I wondered what was to happen next. Then the guides spoke to me again.
"Stop at 3:33 PM." I was told.
At 3:33 PM precisely I arrived at a tourist pulloff point overlooking beautiful Kalamalka Lake just south of Vernon. Kalamalka Lake is another name for 'Lake of Many Colors'. Ironically this was the identical spot where i stopped at 9:33 PM on the ninth day of my journeys.
Sitting in my car I meditated for nine minutes. Then I got out of the car and took several pictures of the beautiful scenery. From the lookout point I could see Monashee Mountain, the Coldstream Valley, as well as Kalamalka Lake.
The drive from Vernon to Kelowna was pleasant. Driving along my thoughts turned to a conversation I had earlier in the day with Joanie, a female friend.
"Are you ever afraid you might pick up a hitchhiker who might harm you?" Joanie asked.
I told her that I had nothing to fear; that I was guided from within and that I was fully protected at all times.
The only two emotions are fear and love and I refuse to experience fear. For me all the positive emotions are love and the negative emotions are fear Picking up hitchhikers and encountering people in strange circumstasnces is commonplace for me. It only blessed me and heightened my experiences.
My main daily prayer is to ask for strength, protection and guidance. One of several positive affirmations which I have been using for years is the following.
'The right work and the right friends will come into my life at the right time, in the right way, and I will recognize them when they do.'
At Kelowna I took Highway 33 and headed towarsd Rock Creek.
The Eagles Nest
I decided to stop in the Christian Valley to visit deal friends Bryan and Joyce who live twenty-five kilometers north of Westbridge. Their propertyy which they call the Eagles Nest in situated in the Christian Valley alongside the Kettle River.
Bryan, Joyce and I have a mutual friend, Menno, who wrote the manuscript
The Gathering of the Eagles
On to Rock Creek
After visiting with Bryan and Joyce for one hour I continued my journey south. At 7:33 PM I arrived at Rock Creek where I gassed up my car.
I had an interesting talk with the lady at the combined general store and gas station. She had lived there for twenty-six years and had a twenty-six year old daughter.
Before leaving Rock Creek I stopped to see Al, a friend who owns a rock shop along the highway. Visiting with Al for some time he told me stories about his philosophy and beliefs in life. Al is an interesting and intriguing person and I always enjoy stopping to chat with him.
Crystal and Darlene
From Rock Creek I took Highway 3 and crossed over the border into the United States at Christina Lake into the state of Washington. During the evening drive I felt well rested so I continued to drive until I arrived at Coeur d' Alene, Idaho, where I stayed overnight. I had travelled a distance of 600 kilometers the first day.
After leaving Rock Creek I made two contacts with waitresses. Crystal on the Canadian side of the border was nineteen years old and Darlene, who I met when I stopped at Spokane, was eighteen. Both girls were charming and I enjoyed my conversation with them.
