THE HARMONIC CONVERGENCE

SEVEN DAYS AT MT SHASTA

Day One - August 15, 1987 - Arrival At Mt Shasta

On Highway 97 Near Goldendale, Washington
"Yashah!".

I heard the voice inside my head as if it were spoken from the back seat of my car.

"Yes," I responded to myself.

"We have some directions for you."

"O.K." I thought. I am open to any suggestions coming from spirit or cosmic consciouness.

"There is a contact on the road as you cross over the bridge entering into Oregon. He will be hitchhiking. He is also going to the mountain (Mt Shasta). You are to pick him up.

Continuing on I drove over the bridge spanning the Columbia River and entered into Oregon. As I came off the bridge I saw a young fellow hitchhiking. Hw was holding up a sign which read "CAL PLEASE". I assumed th CAL was an abbreviation for California. As I stopped beside him he stuck his head in the open window on the passenger side of my car and identified himself.

"Hello, I'm Jeff L...." he stated.

"I'm Yashah".

I thought it unusual that he identified himself before he got in my vehicle. I had picked up many hitchhikers in the past and this was the first time one had identified himself immediately before getting into my vehicle. Immediately I experienced a comfortable feeling of rapport with Jeff.

After we ascertained that we were both going to Mt Shasta we talked about the Harmonic Convergence gathering which would be held on the mountain August 16th and 17th. I first heard of the Harmonic Convergence when I visited Mt Shasta in early June of this year.

As we rode south Jeff and I shared our feelings of anticipation and excitement towards our upcoming visit to Mt Shasta.

I found it ironic that Jeff's main occupation was as a "guide". After working with unseen guides for several years, I now had a visible guide in my car.

Jeff told me the following about himself.

"I am a technical rock climbing and mountaineering guide. I have seven years of journals which include technical information on the history and putting together of a survival pack. I plan to write a book on this. It would answer the question, 'What are the considerations and the selections process on what to put into a survival pack to go anywhere, anytime, in North America, especially cold climates'."

Jeff told me that there were two kinds of cold temperatures with which he was concerned. There was the wet cold of California and the dry cold of British Columbia, Canada. He went on.

"The wet cold is the most dangerous because it is so penetrating. I had to learn to live and to survive in both climates. I want to develop a survival pack that you could use comfortably and adapt alternately."

Jeff told me that he has travelled over one million hitchhiking miles over the past ten years, mostly in Northwestern North America. He has lived in Alaska and in the Yukon Territories. He has lived outside, year round, for the last ten years.

Jeff went on to tell me that he has invented a new Tai Chi style to emphasize the climbing movement. A well known rock climbing company has featured him on a video doing his Tai Chi movements.

Driving along, a hawk flew directly across our path. "Jeff responded, "That's such a good omen when a bird, a hawk, flies right across your path."

Upon arriving at Mt Shasta City, Jeff and I went directly to the City of Light newspaper office to gather information concerning the Convergence gathering. I received the information I wanted from Ceile (pro- nounced Kayla). I had met Ceile one year ago when I was at Mt Shasta writing my first book,

'Touching the Eagles' - 33 Days Through A Cosmic Journey.

Upon gathering the information, Jeff and I headed up the mountain.

The elevation of Mt Shasta City is 3300 feet. When we arrived at the upper parking lot on the mountain, we were at an elevation of 7800 feet.

Many people were gathering for the Convergence and there were several hundred cars in and around the parking lot. I was fortunate to find an empty space. I proceeded to drive just ahead of the parking spot so that I could back into it. As I pulled ahead a van pulled in behind me and was about to take the one vacant parking spot. I thought that if they took the spot I would be able to find another. However, seeing that I was about to back into the spot they pulled around me and I parked in the spot. The van went to the end of the parking lot and returned unable to find a spot. The guides spoke to me again.

"There is plenty of room for both vehicles in this spot."

I went over to the van and invited them to share the spot with me. It was then that I noticed the British Columbia licence plates. Thus Jeff and I met Brenda, Denise and Judith.

The girls invited us into the van for refresh-ments after which we meditated while listening to an excellent audio tape on toning.

I was fortunate to see four UFOs over the mountain that first night.

THE SPACESHIPS

In the glow of the night
The spaceships appear
Four of them off to the right
Ever so near.

Circling they follow one another
A feeling of happiness they bring
O'er the mountain
Carefully forming a ring.

Appearing as discs in the sky
Silhouetted in the light
They circle overhead high
Lighting up the night.

Watching with delight
I was filled with joy
At the incredible sight
As I heard in my head 'Alahoy'.
