Please read ALL of these instructions before beginning. This is an approximately 1:1 scale model (human scale; Martian scale is unknown) of a pistol used by Marvin the Martian in several Warner Bros. cartoons. The model is intended to be printed at 7.5 inches by 10 inches (190.5mm x 254mm), so it should print correctly on US Letter or A4 size sheets of 90 lb (165 gram per square meter) index card. The finished scale model is about 11 inches (280 mm) long, and fits my hand nicely. Assembly is straightforward, and simpler than it may appear at first glance. Score as indicated at each step; all folds except the middle of part 7 are peak folds (away from the printed side). All parts are assembled with the printed side facing out. 1. Score all the tabs and lines on part 1 and cut it out. Form and glue part 1 into a box. 2. Cut out part 2. Roll part 2 into a cylinder and glue at the tab. Score the tabs of parts 2a and 2b and cut them out. Insert part 2b into the end of part 2 closest to the white section. Glue part 2b into part 2. Glue part 2a into the other end of part 2. 3. Glue part 2a to part 1 at the smaller circle with the seam downward (away from the side of part 1 that has no details). 4. Cut out part 3. Roll part 3 into a cylinder and glue at the tab. Score the tabs of parts 3a and 3b and cut them out. Remove the centers (marked with a red X) of parts 3a and 3b. Glue parts 3a and 3b into the ends of part 3. 5. Slide parts 3, 3a and 3b over the end of part 2 to cover the white area. Align the seam of part 3 with the seam of part 2 and glue into place. 6. Cut out part 4. Roll part 4 into a cylinder and glue at the tab. Score the tabs of parts 4a and 4b and cut them out. Glue parts 4a and 4b into the ends of part 4. 7. Glue part 4a to part 1 at the larger circle with the seam downward (away from the side of part 1 that has no details). 8. Cut out part 5. Roll part 5 into a cylindrical wedge and glue at the tab. Score the tabs of parts 5a and 5b and cut them out. Remove the centers (marked with a red X) of parts 5a and 5b. Glue parts 5a and 5b into the ends of part 5. 9. Slide parts 5, 5a and 5b over the end of part 4 and in just a bit from the end (part 4b). Align the seam of part 5 with the seam of part 4 and glue into place. 10. Score the tabs of part 6 and cut it out, being careful to cut well up between the petals. Curl the petals away from the printed side to form a hemisphere. 11. One tab at a time, glue the tabs of part 6 to part 4b so that the tabs are hidden and the edges of the petals of part 6 close together. There is no need to glue the petals to one another. 12. Score the line and tabs of part 7 and cut it out. Fold all the tabs away from the printed side, then fold part 7 toward the printed side at the line. ** NOTE: Parts 9R/L, 10R/L, and 11R/L are positioned on the parts sheet adjacent to their respective attachment points on parts 8R/L. Make sure you don't get them mixed up or nothing will fit right! ** 13. Cut out part 8R. Score the tabs on part 9R and cut it out. Glue the tabs of part 9R to part 8R along the appropriate edge. Repeat for parts 10R and 11R. 14. Cut out part 8L. Score the tabs on part 9L and cut it out. Glue the tabs of part 9L to part 8L along the appropriate edge. Repeat for parts 10L and 11L. 15. Glue part 7 to part 8R (it will only fit one way). Glue the other side of part 7 to part 8L. 16. Cut out part 12. Glue part 12 to the tabs on parts 9R and 9L. Be careful to maintain the space between parts 8R and 8L consistently. 17. Cut out part 13. Note that the white area of part 13 should be positioned toward part 7. Glue part 13 to the tabs on parts 10R and 10L. Be careful to maintain the space between parts 8R and 8L consistently. 18. Score the two tabs on part 14 and cut it out. Glue one tab to part 12. Glue part 14 to the tabs on parts 11R and 11L and the remaining tab of part 14 to part 13. 19. Glue this assembly to part 1 where indicated by the white areas on two sides. ** NOTE: Observe the relative positions of parts 15, 15R, and 15L. Parts 15R and 15L must be glued to part 15 in these positions. ** 20. Score the lines crossing part 15 and cut it out. Score the tabs of part 15R and cut it out. Glue part 15 to the tabs of part 15R so that the striped section of part 15 is inside the curve of the assembly, and the white section of part 15 is on the outside of the curve. 21. Score the tabs of part 15L and cut it out. Glue part 15L to part 15. 22. Fit the assembly to part 1 and part 13; it will only fit one way. Glue the assembly into place. 23. Score the lines crossing part 16 and all its tabs and cut it out. Form part 16 into an arc and glue it shut. Glue part 16 to part 1 and part 13 in the small white rectangles indicated, with the end marked with a red star at part 13.
