Please read ALL of these instructions before beginning. This is a model of the shuttle pod from the movie "Galaxy Quest," represented in an in-flight mode. Scale is approximately 1/72. The model is intended to print at 7.5 inches by 10 inches (190.5mm x 254mm), so it should print correctly on US Letter or A4 size sheets of 90 lb (165 gram per square meter) index card by centering the image on the page, preserving the aspect ratio, and setting the image width to 7.5 inches (190.5 mm). The finished scale model is about 3.75 inches (95 mm) long. Assembly is straightforward. The arrows indicate score lines, except those along curves which should be obvious. All folds are peak folds (away from the printed side). 1. Score and cut out part 1. Fold the tabs under. ** Note that the blue shape on part 1 is at the forward end of the hull on the top. ** 2. Score and cut out both parts 3. Fold all tabs away from the printed sides. Glue the tabs of one part 3 to the back of part 1, gently curving part 1 to fit. Glue the tabs of the other part 3 to the back of part 1 along the other edge. 3. Cut out part 2. Glue part 2 to the tabs along the other side of both parts 3, and to the two tabs on the ends of part 1. Trim part 2 as needed for correct fit. ** This assembly is the hull. Note that the blue shape on part 1 is at the forward end of the hull on the top. ** 4. Cut out both parts 4. Glue one side of the hull to the printed side of one part 4, positioning the hull in the indicated areas. Glue the other side of the hull to the other part 4 in the same manner. 5. Score and cut out one part 5 and one part 6. Fold all tabs away from the printed side. Glue part 5 to the two end tabs of part 6 to form a continuous band with the printed side out. Glue the tabs along one side of this assembly to the unprinted side of one part 4. Repeat for the other part 5 and part 6 on the other side of the hull. 6. Score and cut out part 7L. Glue the two tabs to the unprinted side of part 7L to close the gaps and give the part a gentle curvature. ** Note that the NSEA marking is at the forward end of part 7L. ** Glue part 7L to the tabs of parts 5 and 6 on the left side of the hull. ** Be very gentle when applying pressure to part 7L, or it may collapse ** 7. Score and cut out part 7R. Glue the tabs to the unprinted side of part 7R to close the gaps and give the part a gentle curvature. ** Note that the NSEA marking is at the forward end of part 7R. ** Glue part 7R to the tabs of parts 5 and 6 on the right side of the hull. ** Be very gentle when applying pressure to part 7R, or it may collapse ** 8. Score and cut out one part 8. Don't forget to score the tabs along the curve. Fold into a triangular wedge shape with the printed side out. Glue the tabs to the unprinted side of the part. Glue part 8 to part 7L in the triangular area indicated. Repeat for the other part 8 and glue it to part 7R. 9. Score and cut out part 9. Fold the two curved sections away from the printed side. Gently curve the rectangular section to fit the curved sections. Butt glue the edges of the rectangular section to the curved section. ** Note that the blue rectangle is at the forward end of part 9. ** Glue part 9 onto part 1 in the rectangular area indicated. 10. Score and cut out part 10. Fold the two curved sections away from the printed side. Gently curve the rectangular section to fit the curved sections. Butt glue the edges of the rectangular section to the curved section. Glue part 10 onto part 9 in the rectangular area indicated. This completes assembly of the shuttle pod. Landing gear may be provided at a future date if enough reference images become available.
