Please read ALL of these instructions before beginning. This is a 1:1 scale model of a "Stun Gun" from the television series "Space: 1999," simplified somewhat in order to reduce the part count and fit everything onto three pages of paper. The pages are intended to be printed at 7.5 inches by 10 inches (190.5mm x 254mm), so it should print correctly on US Letter or A4 size sheets of 90 lb (165 gram per square meter) index card. The finished scale model is about 7 inches (178 mm) long. Assembly is straightforward, and simpler than it may appear at first glance. On the scoring diagram, bright green lines indicate peak folds (away from the printed side), and bright blue lines indicate valley folds (toward the printed side). The major parts are in right-left pairs, partly to add some rigidity to the overall structure, and partly to emulate the seam line on the original prop. 1. Score and cut out part 1R. Note the small cuts indicated in red on the diagram. Fold and glue the part into a closed structure, saving the large unprinted flap for last. Repeat for part 1L. ** Option: If you plan to allow your model to be handled (as in cosplay), fill these parts with folded paper strips or shaped blocks of styrene foam to give it additional support. ** 2. Glue the large unprinted sides of parts 1R and 1L together, aligning all edges carefully. 3. Cut out part 2B and roll it into a cylinder with the printed side in. Glue the tab to the outside of the cylinder. 4. Score and cut out part 2A, and remove the two circles. Prefold all scored lines. Glue part 2B to the unprinted side of part 2A at one of the holes, aligning as closely as possible. Fold the tabbed sections up and glue to the unprinted side, surrounding part 2B. Apply glue to the edge of part 2B before closing the last flap. 5. Score and cut out part 3R. Note the area to be removed and the small cuts indicated in red on the diagram. Fold and glue the part into a closed box, saving the large unprinted flap for last. Note the two areas circled in yellow on the diagram; gently bring these triangular corners together and apply a small amount of glue to the unprinted side to secure them. Let this glue dry, then fold and glue the large unprinted flap. Repeat for part 3L. 6. Glue the large unprinted sides of parts 3R and 3L together, aligning all edges carefully. 7. Score and cut out part 4. Fold and glue the part into a box. Glue part 4 to the top of assembly 3R/3L in the indicated location. 8. Score and cut out part 5. Fold and glue the part into a box. Note the orientation of the text characters on part 5. Glue part 5 to the four tabs of assembly 3R/3L in the indicated location. 9. Score and cut out part 6. Fold and glue the part into a box. Glue part 6 to the top of part 5, covering one of the text areas. 10. Score and cut out part 7. Fold and glue the part into a box. Glue part 7 to the top of part 5 in the indicated location. 11. Score and cut out part 8R. Note the small cuts indicated in red on the diagram. Fold and glue the part into a closed structure, saving the large unprinted flap for last. Repeat for part 8L. 12. Glue the large unprinted sides of parts 8R and 8L together, aligning all edges carefully. 13. Score and cut out part 9R. Note the small cuts indicated in red on the diagram. Fold and glue the part into a closed structure, saving the large unprinted flap for last. Repeat for part 9L. 14. Glue the large unprinted sides of parts 9R and 9L together, aligning all edges carefully. 15. The four parts 10A through 10D consist of three parts each. For each part 10, score and cut out the larger piece. Fold and glue it into a box. Cut out the two strips, noting that one is slightly longer than the other. Glue the two strips back to back, overlapping by about half their length (see the diagram for help). Form this assembly into a cylinder with the shorter strip on the inside and glue the unprinted sides together. Glue this assembly to the box in the circle indicated. 16. Glue assembly 1R/1L to the bottom of assembly 3R/3L in the indicated location. 17. Glue assembly 8R/8L to the bottom of assembly 3R/3L in the indicated location. 18. Glue assembly 9R/9L to the bottom of assembly 8R/8L in the indicated location. 19. Glue part 2 to the bottom of assembly 1R/1L in the indicated location. 20. Cut out and glue parts 1R+ and 1L+ to their indicated locations. Cut out and glue parts 3R+ and 3L+ to their indicated locations. Cut out and glue parts 3R+ and 3L+ to their indicated locations. Note that two of the 3+ parts must be scored and shaped into truncated cones. Tabs have been provided, but you may find it easier to eliminate the tabs and simply butt glue the parts together.
